In this era of rapid change, we will continue to be the global resource for the highest standards in addiction-related health care credentialing.
Recent political developments in the U.S. also mean that it is a critical time for the field. Both the Affordable Health Care for America Act of 2010 and President Obama’s National Drug Control Strategy have the potential to transform how the profession is practiced in North America.
As a result of membership in IC&RC/AODA, our certified counselors may relocate to other states, the military services and other countries, and transfer their certification with a minimum of effort and expense.
Our goal is to provide competency-based certification that will assure quality care for those affected by substance abuse.
Certification offers evidence that standards of knowledge, skill, experience, and demonstration of competency have been met.
